In this screenshot-gallery I will show the process of doing a clean install of Windows 8. The process was done in a virtual machine on my desktop, and thus took longer than if I had done it on a real machine. I did a clean install on my sons laptop earlier today, and that process took approximately 15 minutes.
When bootting from the USB-key you will soon see the Windows 8 logo for the first time
FIrst you will have to enter regional and keyboard settings
Being a norwegian I chose Norwegian π
Time to hit that Install now button
Setup is starting...
No more 30 days grace period. You have to enter a key to continue
You then read the EULA carefully, and accepts
Upgrade or custom (clean) install. I chose the latter
And could then choose where to put it.
A familiar screen appears
And this will take a little while
Almost there
Time for a reboot...
The Windows logo appears again. You will get used to that spinning circle
Windows is getting the devices ready
A surprisingly fast process
Time for some basic personalization
Express or custom settings? I chose the first
Time to sign in to my computer with a Windows ID
Of course it has to check for my account
Then it wants my password
and then it starts the process of adding security info
Having done this previously on other computers it was already filled in (blanked out here)
Then it creates the account on the machine
Finalizing my settings. One might think that it is almost done?
While finishing up, you are shown an animation on how to get to the Charms-bar
Unsure whether that is enough of an upgrade training...
Getting the PC ready... Ok... Finished soon?
Then it informs me that it is installing apps...
While it gently asks me not to turn off the PC the screen continually changes it background color
Now it has to be finished soon... Right?
Ok... Almost there...
Yes! Let's start!
And we can finally see the Startscreen π On my laptop the whole process took approx 15 minutes.
